I don’t know if it’s the unusually cold winter, or what, but our B&B business is frozen too. We ended the year sort of bottomed out. Not in the red, but not in the black either.. my son’s birthday is in a few days.. and I’m scraping the barrel’s bare bottom. So this morning, I ventured to the lower part of my long multi-terraced yard1, and walked in the (now) high snow, and prayed.
A word about the snow. My son and I were in Maryland last week, looking at a work truck. We couldn’t buy it because it turns out a few months ago, I had put a freeze on my credit reports and had forgotten all about doing so. So here we are- 7 hours away from NY to the dealership in southern Maryland, and the dealer can’t pull up my credit, so I’m outta luck with a 14 hour round trip plus hotel fare.. Why couldn’t I just UNFREEZE my credit reports from there? Because the cell phone connected to my credit accounts -( an expensive 5G Samsung 23Ultra - that I’m still paying on) a phone that can ‘shoot the moon’, (I bought it for the camera) and is supposed to be waterproof - got destroyed a week ago when it went - in my bluejeans →into a 70 minute clothes wash cycle with bleach. (does anyone else ever do these things? I’d be helpless without holy spirit)..
(I can’t help but wonder if the Lord is sparing me an upcoming 5G event.??)
I never carry the phone in my pocket, and never strip clothing in front of the washer, but I did that and that this time, and somehow never noticed the bulky back pocket.. a perfect storm. Now I’m bereft of the phone tied to all my memberships and accounts, I’m still paying for it, and Spectrum WONT let me put the Sim Card in another phone so I can get my calls and text messages. ( /:>{ ) (Small problems I know.) (I no longer like Spectrum - they’re merciless).
So we get ready to go back on the road north from Maryland, our mission a fail, and learn they’re calling for a big blizzard for that day- Friday, and Saturday and Sunday.. (In fact, 2 feet of snow was right then falling on our house in NY..), and we would have to drive through the Pennsylvania mountains.. ( :>0 ) But we HAD to go home.
So we prayed..
And on the drive home, I spoke in tongues quietly, and played Alexander Scourby on the radio reading the Gospels out loud for hours.
We managed to drive 7 hours through Maryland, and the notorious Pennsylvania mountains, and highway 81 from Binghamton to Syracuse - in sub freezing tempartures - without a drop of precipitation.
2 days later, on Sunday, I was on my prayer walk along the Erie Canal, and found myself chatting with another hiker, whose sister had also just driven through Pennsylvania marveling at how the roads were so clear in spite of all the calls for a blizzard. I told her.. ‘Tell her you met the gal that prayed’. She laughed. (I wan’t kidding).
So in my lower yard this morning, walking in about 2 feet of snow, I prayed again.
I said, ‘God, I could borrow $ from friends for Nick’s birthday present, but I would rather borrow it from my own bank account up there. Thank you for opening the window up there, and pouring me out a blessing.”
I had $300 in mind when I was praying. (My mouth wasn’t exactly opened wide.2) Later this morning the phone rang. It was a call out of the clear blue sky *(Pun intended) from an old client from many years ago,.. His proposal, that I will write now, will net me about 10x what I had in mind..
What can you try at home? Here it is..
After I prayed in the yard, I went into my art studio, where I had set up my new air purifier a few days ago. I LOVE the machine, and I’m not sorry that I bought it (even though it’s not a DIY model.) It’s handsome, works silently, has several settings and it has a place to put ESSENTIAL OILS so that they diffuse into the fresh clean air!! Genius!
So standing there, looking at the beautiful machine- I had an epiphany. I went and got PRAYER OIL and put it into the essential oil slot to diffuse blessings into the air.
So, honestly, I’m not sure which prayer worked, the one in the yard, or the blessed oil annointing of my house, or both.. but I have to close here, and go write a proposal….
a place I saw in my childhood dreams..
Psalm 81:10
Alleluia! God is so good!
