It makes me wonder : if the earth was spinning at 1,000 mph wouldn't it be impossible to fly east? Planes go about 500 mph so they'd never be able to gain any ground. Unless I'm missing something.
funny you should ask.. I used to wonder how I could fly to Spain (As I often did in the 1980s) in 6 hours.. and return to NY in.... drumroll... 6 hours.
I should tell you that the entire airforce and all pilots know the earth is flat. The military data sheets that talk about missile launches and aircraft trajectories.. ALL refer to a flat motionless earth. My only question is how they get them all to shut up. I have pointedly asked a few pilots, 'So it's flat isn't it?' only to have them crack a knowing smile at me..
