‘I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.’ Philippians 4:12
I know someone needs to read this becakuse they trust in their wealth; and others because they lament their penury. There is a place of faith where neither position is warranted, and where the peace that passes all understanding prevails.
This morning I woke to find my accounts empty and my card maxed out. Withdrawals exceeded deposits, and bills were on the table…
I was not concerned. I sat down and let the Lord know what I needed for today. He is the only one I go to when I have a need. In fact, if there were a ‘heart monitor’ for ‘trusting in the Lord’, mine would always ‘flatline’.
In other words, there are no peaks and valleys. Whatever comes my way, He has taught me, we can handle it together.
My friends generally never know I have a need unless I publish a praise report.1 And as you will see, sometimes He answers LONG before I even ask!
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer;
and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.’ Isaiah 65:24
Not long after I said my prayer, things began to manifest. For one thing, a B&B reservation paid its →week old bill.. and another reservation came in.
Then this afternoon the phone rang and my son’s dad found out that one of his paintings sold at the Gallery in Virginia that shows his work (That payment will take a week to come to us, but he hasn’t sold a painting in some months, so it was welcome news!)
Then - for about a few months my son Nick had been looking for carpentry work in our area; He applied to a number of companies here, as well as in Connecticut -where a very old family friend lives -(who offered him a place to stay if he wishes to work in that swanky town on the water).. But NOBODY replied to his applications even to say ‘Thank you but the position was filled. Everybody ‘ghosted’ him. A frustrating thing.
Mind you - peculiar difficulties ALWAYS rear their ugly heads whenever I am doing something that pleases the Lord - leaving no wonder as to who’s behind it! But my Bible also says -
‘For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous;
lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.’ Psalm 125:3
I love that verse. God will NOT permit the enemy to keep the pressure on, lest we be tempted to commit sin. Didn’t He also have Paul write:
‘There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.’ I Corinthians 10:13
It bears inserting here, that there is a right way and a wrong way to ‘wait on the Lord’. Crying and confessing dearth, is not the right way. But peaceful resolve, and positive confession- coupled with believing prayer- is ALWAYS the way out of the pit.
As it is written:
‘The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in him.’ Nahum 1:7
He ‘knows those who trust Him’.. Boy! Isn’t that a loaded verse!
Well, this afternoon Nick, who is currently on a trip to Washington DC, called me. He got a phone call from Connecticut and has an upcoming interview!
On the alternative side of this ledger:
I know a minister, a very arrogant man, that years ago had the nerve to scoff at the late great man of God - George Mueller - because in the miraculous 60 year ministry that Mueller conducted - including feeding, clothing, housing, and raising up to know the Lord - thousands upon thousands of orphans, in his day - Mueller often found his accounts back down to zero - with mealtime just minutes away..
That minister snarled that he (himself) “always had a surplus..” Suggesting in so many words (That I forget exactly how he put it).. that ‘his faith exceeded that of Mueller’s.
I disagree. I doubt any of us could compare our faith to George Mueller and shine brighter, or the Apostle Paul either who once said:
‘I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.’ Philippians 4:12
In my years of walking with the Lord, I have never met a man for whom wealth drew him closer to God. I could cite too many to fit in this post.
Nor have I seen a nation that prosperity made more spiritual.
***********
God knew better, and had Moses write the first ever song in the history of man - because a song is something you never forget -
20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey;
and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat;
then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.
21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them,
that this song shall testify against them as a witness;
for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed:
for I know their imagination which they go about, even now,
before I have brought them into the land which I sware.
22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.
The SONG is saying, that Israel would get comfortable; they would ‘wax rich’ and in the wake of it - FORGET GOD.
They did, and so has the Church in America who long ago swapped power for prosperity - a fleeting willow the wisp of which James said...
‘Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.’ James 5:1-3
I don’t suppose we have any illusions about how God feels about men who regard wealth as any measure of their ‘blessedness’.
SUMMING UP THE DAY -
Today my accounts rose to proper levels again, and my needs were met. Not to mention the promise of receipts to come in shortly. But the point is not the funds, but the faith.
I have had plenty, and I have had what could be seen as ‘penury’. And it hasn’t had the least effect upon me. I have learned how to ‘walk on water’... (No visible means of support) In fact, few men that I know can match me miracles for miracles, which is the upshot of waiting on God..
In fact, I REJOICE in having been PUT in a position in my life to NEED GOD.. Because the miraculous ways He supports us financially, mirrors the miraculous ways that he supports us in every category of life.
I have seen his grace manifest in so many categories of life. I don’t know what it means to be anxious. My tiny beloved family goes out daily, and comes back daily, and the storms blow past our house, leaving the tree branches neatly folded in the driveway - next to the cars. My house has yet to sell, but God has as much as shown me that He has a miracle in the works. So I wait.
Learning how to trust in God for support, spills over into other categories of life.
In another post, I told the story about how my son was off filming a WWII re-enactment video in a woods 30 minutes away, when one of his ‘effects’ - an M80 explosive.. blew up in his hand. The blast somehow went DOWN.. As if an angel reached his hand in between Nicks head and hand. The hair was burned off of the back of his arms, and - though he was looking at the device as he lit it - his face was totally UNTOUCHED.
Nick trusted God, took ONLY the stitches; In our sensible distrust of everything pharma related, he forsook the meds AND the suggested hand surgery, and was back to lifting 400'lbs within the month.
These posts are never designed to denigrate anyone who suffers loss. I know all about suffering loss.. losing children, losing the one man in my life who loved me more than life itself.. losing my earthly family.. I know all about loss.
What I want you to understand is that had SOMEONE Taught me how to LISTEN to GOD - and how to TRUST GOD - decades ago.. I wouldn’t be alone in this world, bereft of loved ones, having to place many regrets into a perspective that allows me to remember things, without constantly living in pain. I know ALL ABOUT LOSS.
This message is for every saint who wants to know GOD IS FAITHFUL; HE IS RIGHTEOUS IN ALL HIS WAYS, AND HOLY IN ALL HIS WORKS;
There is a reason for everything; Where our faith fails, where we trust the wrong ‘thing’.. (doctors for example), we can suffer loss. NEVER God’s primary will for us.
Last point:
I AM STILL SEEING A COUNTDOWN CLOCK CONSTANTLY. DAY IN AND DAY OUT. AND GOD HAS CONNECTED IT WITH WHAT LOOKS TO BE THE DEPARTURE OF THE CHURCH.
ARE YOU BEREFT?
HAVE YOU SUFFERED LOSS?
We don’t have much more time to wait.
The departure of the ‘called, chosen and FAITHFUL (Revelation 17:14) CHURCH - cannot be more than 25 years out, based on the belief I hold that the Rapture will happen before the antichrist can rise - for WE - that is the POWER FILLED DISCIPLES OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST - have AUTHORITY over ALL THE SERPENTS of THIS WORLD. It does not say ‘EXCEPT ANTICHRIST’. It says ALL. ALL. ALL.
That means we have to be GONE for him to rise up.
I know approximately when he will rise - 2048. So, to leave BEFORE he rises, we don’t have more than 25 years to wait to leave here.
SO THAT MEANS - GET BUSY TRUSTING GOD NOW. MAKE AN ETERNAL NAME FOR YOURSELF NOW~!
PERSONALLY, I DON’T WANT TO BE FAMOUS ON EARTH. I WANT TO BE FAMOUS IN HEAVEN! LIKE A CERTAIN CENTURION!
ALL OF US HAVE SUFFERED LOSS.
ALL WHO LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY IN CHRIST SUFFER PERSECUTION AND LOSS.
LET US AGREE WITH THE MOST PERSECUTED OF MEN AFTER JESUS HIMSELF - PAUL - WHO SAID -
‘I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.’ Philippians 3:14
MAKE NO MISTAKE FRIEND, THE UPWARD CALL IS THE DAY WE WILL BE CALLED UP - KNOWN AS - THE RAPTURE.
Are you called? Be chosen. Are you chosen? Be faithful.
That’s how George Muller ran his 60 year ministry! He was VERY careful to not publish need, lest anyone get the wrong idea that he was looking for ‘support’. He would eventually print a praise report, to specifically BUILD the believing of the saints!
DITTO! Please be sure that I am NOT looking for support. Save for those of you who wish to contribute to the ‘Crowd Funding Page’ for people who need help to attend the upcoming Bible Class. That’s fine! I’ll be publishing that ‘Give Send Go’ page here in a few minutes.
“My tiny beloved family goes out daily, and comes back daily, and the storms blow past our house, leaving the tree branches neatly folded in the driveway - next to the cars.” This is so precious to me. Your writing is a blessing.
O MS Victoria! What a beautiful testimony of God's protection, love and provider. Peace in the midst of the storm! Your home is just that, a home where Christ is welcomed and adored. I myself am blessed by your friendship and prayers. Though we have not met personally, I feel your love and concern every time you check in or pray for me. you have given me hope and for that I thank you. and all this because I somehow came across your FB page. still don't know how that happened but it did. Yeah I thought you were way out there untill I started reading more of what you had to say. you give us truth. we need truth.
