I have also learned that regularly participating (several times a week for us) in communion, remembering Christ and He has done for us; taking the bread for healing and blood for forgiveness of sins has profound affects on one’s quality of life!
You're so right! I'm so glad you pointed that out!! I hope this comment gets a LOT of attention. He left us that also for, as you said.. our HEALING. Because Healing & Forgiveness are 2 sides of the same coin.
we rarely take communion in our church. maybe 1 or 3x a year if that. since most of our members live on our homeless shelter, I doubt if they even understand the meaning.
Why is such a percentage of your congregation homeless? It seems, to me, that it would tend to skew the topic towards the more immature saint, as opposed to those who are able to serve. Just an impression anyway, but for 'communion' to be rare is evidence of skewing. It really ought to be weekly. Even for those who have yet to understand its meaning, and on that point, if you don't have communion, why should they understand its significance? And how will they glean its benefit. Crystal, I'm starting to suspect you're in the wrong church in that, if you have been sick for a long time, and have not enjoyed healing in this church, you're expecting something different from the same old ingredients; it's not going to happen.
our church also functions as a homeless shelter. we house people who have nowhere else to go. anything from drug alcohol abuse to mental problems and whatever else made them that way. without us, I'm not sure where they'd go. I need a healing. tired if sitting up just to sleep. last night I got up to a racing heart and I'm just over it. I'm not wanting to be a bother you but if you have time can I call you again?
When you would like to call, to talk, or pray, or both, do so. Don't worry about the day or time, because if I can't talk it will go to voicemail. I would suggest a 10pm, cut off time, that's all. Save for an emergency of course.
I love your comments and deep insights. I'll reply in reverse, the photos intend to show good health at 67 years of age. If what I preach is true, I should be living it. Which is the point.
You wrote: "And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. Jesus makes no mention or indication of sin or demons in the man's illness or in his healing."
Watch the support words. When Jesus ministered to Peter's mother, it does not say 'She was cured of the fever'. It says rather - "The fever LEFT her'. In the case of the man with leprosy, the Scripture doesn't say 'he was cured', but 'the leprosy DEPARTED FROM him'.
When 'something' departs, it is indicates the presence of a demon. Sickness doesn't 'depart', it is cured, or healed. Demons 'leave people'.
Demons do have more to do with sickness than people realize. When you see the words 'lesions' referring to the cracking open of skin - that is a demonic affliction. There are many such 'indications'.
Why is this important? To know how to address the problem. A cure with, say, a disease that is precipitated by anger, or toxic metals, is handled differently than something that is caused by the presence of a demon.
This is precisely why the manifestations of holy spirit are key to walking in power. Among them is 'discerning of spirits'. That revelation manifestation ought to be in operation by anyone seeking to heal others. (Or heal themselves).
