11:11- WHAT IT MEANS TO THE CHURCH; WHAT IT MEANS TO THE WORLD; THE BIBLICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF NUMBERS

God Almighty invented numbers, and uses them for different reasons,all the time to drive home His messages, add a nuance to a message, or be the message itself.

A number may be specifically mentioned, such as ‘On the Seventh Day, God rested’.

OR it may be inferred- such as how God said ‘It is good’- 7 times, in Genesis chapter 1.

OR - for example, out of the many names of the Lord, Jesus is called by the name ‘Archon’ THIRTY SEVEN times in the Gospels. NEVER in the Church Epistles. Archon being the Greek word for ‘Lord of Hosts’., a name exclusively used in relation to Israel, never with the Church of God in Christ, and refers to the Lord’s RETURN to Earth for Israel, after God finally gathers them into the Land. Which is still future.

The examples from Scripture of the Lord God’s use of numbers, are as the ‘sand of the sea’. Here’s a sampling:

1. The evening and the morning were the first day. (From Genesis 1)

2. The evening and the morning were the second day.

3. The evening and the morning were the third day.

4. The evening and the morning were the fourth day.

5. The evening and the morning were the fifth day.

6. The evening and the morning were the sixth day.

7. And on the 7th day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the 7th day from all his work which he had made.

   ³ And God blessed the 7th day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. (Genesis 2:2,3)

8. ³ And Adam lived an 130 years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

9. ⁴ And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were 800 years: and he begat sons and daughters:

10. ⁵ And all the days that Adam lived were 930 years: and he died.

11. ⁶ And Seth lived an 105 years, and begat Enos:

12. ⁷ And Seth lived after he begat Enos 807 years, and begat sons and daughters:

13. ⁸ And all the days of Seth were 912 and he died.

14. ⁹ And Enos lived 90 years, and begat Cainan:

15. ¹⁰ And Enos lived after he begat Cainan 850 and begat sons and daughters:

16. ¹¹ And all the days of Enos were 905 years: and he died.

17. ¹² And Cainan lived 70 years and begat Mahalaleel:

18. ¹³ And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel 840 years, and begat sons and daughters:

19. ¹⁴ And all the days of Cainan were 910 years: and he died.

    ¹⁵ And Mahalaleel lived 65, and begat Jared:

20. ¹⁶ And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared 830 years, and begat sons and daughters:

21. ¹⁷ And all the days of Mahalaleel were 895: and he died.

22. ¹⁸ And Jared lived an 162, and he begat Enoch:

25. ²¹ And Enoch lived 65, and begat Methuselah:

26. ²² And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah 300 years, and begat sons and daughters:

27. ²³ And all the days of Enoch were 365 years:

28. ²⁵ And Methuselah lived an 187, and begat Lamech.

29. ²⁶ And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech 782 years, and begat sons and daughters:

30. ²⁷ And all the days of Methuselah were 969: and he died.

31. ²⁸ And Lamech lived an 182 and begat a son:

32. ³⁰ And Lamech lived after he begat Noah 595 and begat sons and daughters:

33. ³¹ And all the days of Lamech were 777: and he died.

34. ³² And Noah was 500 years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Genesis chapter 5)

35. The length of the ark shall be 300 cubits, the breadth of it 50 cubits, and the height of it 30 cubits. (Genesis 6:15)

36. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by 7s, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by 2, the male and his female.

37. Of fowls also of the air by 7s, the male and the female..

38. ⁴ For yet 7 days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth 40 days and 40 nights;

39. ⁶ And Noah was 600 years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

40. ¹⁰ And it came to pass after 7 days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

41. ¹¹ In the 600th year of Noah's life, in the 2nd month, the SEVENTEENTH day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

42. ¹² And the rain was upon the earth 40 days and 40 nights.²⁴ And the waters prevailed upon the earth an 150 days.

WHEW! And that’s only the numbers He ‘mentions’. (Others are signified by their use.)

And that’s only the first 7 chapters of the Book. I am not going to go to the Chronicles.. Why? We’d be in this quagmire for pages and pages..

And David took from him a 1,000 chariots, and 7,000 horsemen, and 20,000 footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an 100 chariots.

and

¹⁸ But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians 7,000 men which fought in chariots, and 40,000 footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host. (I Chronicles 19:18)

And I’m not even going to get into how many animals Solomon sacrificed upon the dedication of the first temple, or this post would never end.

And The Book of Numbers.. LETS not go there..

What we will examine is the Lord God’s USE of numbers to drive home meanings. Let’s start with the number 7..

In Genesis chapter one, God said SEVEN times- ‘IT IS GOOD’. (In this case, not ‘saying’ the number but intimating its significance. This first appearance and usage of ‘7’ in the Bible, is what defines the number through the rest of Scripture → as Spiritual Perfection.)

• God had Noah bring SEVEN pairs of clean animals onto the ark.

• In Creation there are - SEVEN colors,

• SEVEN days of the week,

• SEVEN notes in a Chord.. (the 8th of anything connoting a ‘NEW beginning’.)

• The gestation period of EVERY LIVING CREATURE may be divided by SEVEN. For a woman it is (generally) 40 weeks - or FORTY times SEVEN. That is - the number of judgment (40) times the number of Spiritual perfection. Look at that combination of numbers. It compliments what God told Eve, that in pain she would bring forth children. The judgment (40) upon her, was assuaged, by the spiritual perfection (7) of childbirth. In obeying Eve became the ‘mother of all living’ (persons).

What about another oft appearing number in Scripture - 12 - The number of Governmental Perfection.

• There are 12 months in the year;

• There are 12 (mentioned by Scripture) Constellations in the sky;

• There are 12 Tribes of Israel;

• There were 12 original Apostles. (When Judas was killed, they had 11, a number representing (among other things) incompleteness.. so they added Matthias)

FORTY is the number of GOD’s JUDGEMENT

• 40 days and 40 nights it rained upon the earth in the flood of Noah

• The Children of Israel wandered FORTY years in the Wilderness

• 40 years did King David reign over Israel - 7 in Hebron, 33 in Jerusalem

• 40 years did King Solomon reign over Israel

• The Lord showed himself to his disciples for 40 days after his resurrection

• The Day of Atonement (the Biblical DAY of Judgment), took place FORTY DAYS after the 2017 Eclipse that darkened the skies over only AMERICA¹.

• The Gestation of a woman is FORTY WEEKS - 40x7.

What we are undertaking in this study, is a close examination of how Elohim - the Creator - uses His NUMBERS with a scientific precision, and mathematical accuracy, to drive home points, embellish truth, hand stamp His messages, and water mark His Writing on the Walls.

God uses numbers ALL THE TIME throughout Scripture - That is - the Lord God in whom is NO SHADOW OF TURNING. TO THIS DAY, He STILL uses numbers to commumicate messages to those who are practiced in observing them.. Even as the Magi were practiced in reading the Sky - and wound up as the small group that knew a king was born in Israel. So does He want His people to read His messages in whatever form used to communicate them.
