I would guess, given his current living quarters and geographic location, that it's more likely strep or staph which can mimic a bite from brown recluse or black widow spider. I live in the lower midwest so brown recluse awareness is required knowledge as they are quite prevalent in this area and in the south. It's unlikely that they have migrated to the northeast (on their own), but anything is possible these days, I reckon.

I pray that you find the answers you're looking for, in the meantime, with the Mouth of Jesus Christ, command that spirit of infirmity to leave your brother, a child of the Most High God, through the Power and Authority in the Name above all names! Jesus the Christ! Amen!

Victoria, how certain is the brown recluse diagnosis? From the photo that could certainly by from a brown recluse bite. There are a number of other possible causes for a necrotic ulcer like that. As previously mentioned a number of bacterial infections or fungal infection s can present similarly. Less often autoimmune or vascular conditions. Certainly CD would work for bacterial or fungal.
