I have had a phone debacle in which I’m still paying for a phone to Spectrum, and still paying for service, but the phone was destroyed.. (long story - dont’ ask). But Spectrum (annoyingly) won’t let me transfer the SIM card to any of my backup (old) cell phones. They insist I buy another phone from them,.. but they only sell 5G now.. and so we’ve been going around and around the last 2 months.. If you can’t reach me on a number you had, now you know I’m not ignoring you.
Last night, when I took my regular prayer walk, after dark on the canal, with my 2 dogs.. around 6pm - the paths were hard pressed snow, with not a few patches of ice over the asphalt. I decided to call Spectrum again; (on my back up cell phone)..
I wanted to find out how to change the outgoing message on my old line to alert people to the loss of the number. As pissed off as I am with Spectrum’s hard nose policies.. a very pleasant lady who answered as “from OHIO”, took my call. Her soft answers turned away all my wrath..
She promised to send me an email with instructions for getting into my voice mail and also changing the outgoing message. Well.. then something happened that NEVER happens to me..
I slipped on an icy patch and FELL DOWN. I’m not a small person. So I fell hard, crash landing first on my knee, and then my side, just flat out on the ground. The funny thing is.. I had only just been THINKING about the verse I always claim, saying to myself ‘Thank God - He MAKES my feet like hinds feet’.. In other words, I never fall.
And here I actually fell!
Didn’t hurt myself at all. The FIRST word out of my mouth was a loud ‘DAD!?’ (That’s what I call my Heavenly Father in a pinch) I was like ‘WHAT JUST HAPPENED’..?
Then I spoke to my knee and told it to be ‘perfect’. And got up. My knee was fine.
Then I remembered my phone call.. The Lady thought I was talking to her. So I told her ‘No, I’m out in the frozen trails walking my dogs’..
That subject would probably never have come up otherwise.. But she replied to me:
“I just lost my dog.”
Me - “WHAT?” “What happened”? ( I thought she meant it died.)
She said - “No. It was stolen’.
Me - I asked “WHEN? HOW?”
She said - “Last night, I let her out to pee.. we do that every night. She just comes right back, but last night she didn’t come back”.
So I told her, “Ma’am, I’ve had Australian Shepherds almost 50 years. They LOVE to wander. They’ve gone missing a 100 times in 50 years and I ALWAYS have gotten them back. Do you know how?”
She - How?
Me.. (The Lord showed me she was a Christian.) I said “I pray like this: ‘GOD, in the name of Jesus Christ, I ask you to send the angels that minister to me, an heir of salvation, to rescue my dog. Please have them guard him/her to protect her, and then lead her home, bring her home, or have the people protecting him/her bring her back - safe and sound and soon”.
(Then I got why God let me fall. It didn’t hurt at all, but it did start this chain of conversation.)
She was SO BLESSED, she repeated the prayer after me. And we agreed. (She WAS a Christian, just like the Lord showed me~!)
Then I told her, also as the Lord showed me, to call the police and report her lost dog. (She hadn’t done that). He showed me that someone was holding her dog for her, but didn’t know who the owner was. So she should call the police and they would connect her with someone who had called them to say they had found a lost dog.
I love when the Lord shows me what to say, and what is going on. Then I KNOW it is going to work out just as was ‘spoken’.
A few years ago, (she may be reading this now).. a gal in Georgia lost her prize Boxer. They’d searched all day long and couldn’t find her. So she called me and I prayed. Then, I was moved to pray for the ‘ax floating’ miracle of II Kings 6, and said, ‘Let her dog float like an ax’.. Then I said - “Go get your dog”. She left the house and found her in 5 minutes.
In what must be 20 episodes of finding my lost dogs. One time in Virginia, Andre got to SEE the angels that protected brought them home! On many other occassions though we didn’t see them, it was angels that protected them, or even MOVED THEM until we found them. (Too many stories.. too little time).
Never forget that angels are there to ‘hearken to the Word of the Lord’ and ‘minister to ‘those who are the heirs of salvation’. Use them liberally. ( :>} )
PS Vlad got lost THREE TIMES as a puppy, and THREE TIMES an angel protected him! This is him now..
PS The Spectrum gals dog’s name is Cody. I hope that somehow I can find out the end of this story to tell you. (She was in a call center, and can’t call out or give out her phone number) For now, I have the internal conviction that it’s all good.
Thanks for this post. I remember seeing a poster in a veterinary clinic that portrayed dogs as wingless angels. Made me smile.
With regard to your phone. Perhaps you can setup an account with a different provider (that has more liberal phone procurement policies) and have your phone number transferred. I use a budget provider (Mint Mobile) and they let you use any compatible phone. Doesn't have to be purchased from them though they do sell 4g phones.
Your stories, or happenings as they really should be called, are SUCH a blessing and instructive to us all. Praise the Living Creator who fashioned all things and cares for us!
