MORE ON YOUR AUTHORITY - KNOWING THIS FIRST - IT BEGINS IN DISCIPLESHIP, AND IS ACTIVATED BY OBEDIENCE..

When I talk about authority, I mean that which was assigned/gifted to us by Jesus Christ himself in Luke 10:19

‘Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions,

and over all the power of the enemy:

and nothing shall by any means hurt you.’ Luke 10:19

Jesus Christ - not GOD - but the MAN who by OBEDIENCE won ALL authority over heaven and earth..

‘… All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.’ Matthew 28:18

NO ONE needs to give GOD all power in heaven and earth.

Your confusion on this point, will significantly impact your ability to believe John 14:12 and walk in power.

Now; Having established that power was given to a MAN, the only begotten SON of GOD who was the firstborn of creation and the firstfruits from the dead, we now see HOW he procured it..

BY OBEDIENCE

By Obedience Jesus Christ won a name above every name..

‘And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,

and given him a name which is above every name’ Philippians 2:8,9

If Obedience was a cornerstone in the life of our Lord, and our example, how much less or more shall obedience play a role in our lives?

I’ll be building on this point today, but this is my introduction to the critical significance of our Lord’s final commandment to his Disciples in the Gospel of Luke, and as recorded by Luke also in the Book of Acts - that is,

‘..behold, I send the PROMISE OF MY FATHER upon you:

but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be ENDUED WITH POWER from on high’. Luke 24:49

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER, which, saith he, YE HAVE HEARD OF ME (Luke 24:49)!

⁵ For John truly baptized with water; BUT YE SHALL BE BAPTIZED WITH HOLY SPIRIT not many days hence.

⁸ But YE SHALL RECEIVE POWER after that the HOLY SPIRIT IS COME UPON YOU:

and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Are the LAST words of a man to followers in this life not of the highest import? Is not a man’s Last WILL and TESTAMENT consider as GROUND IN STONE?

HOW IS IT THEN, THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF ‘CHRISTIAN CHURCHES AND DENOMINATIONS’ HAVE IGNORED OUR LORD’S FINAL COMMANDMENT?

THE LAST COMMANDMENT THAT JESUS GAVE TO HIS ‘DISCIPLES’.. (NOT TO THE MULTITUDES MIND YOU) WAS THEY WERE TO HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM, AND BE FILLED WITH POWER FROM ON HIGH.

CONSEQUENTLY; TO BE CONSIDERED A DISCIPLE OF THE LORD - YOU MUST HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM. WITHOUT WHICH YOU ARE ALREADY - DISOBEDIENT, AND CANNOT EXPECT TO WALK IN AUTHORITY.
