THE WORD OF GOD

Tonight I’d like to talk about what GOD SENT to His son’s Disciples - and the mindset for ‘acquiring’ the fullness of it.

When Jesus Christ was getting his disciples ready for his departure, they needed to be comforted. They had a hard enough time swallowing that he’d be crucified, so you can just imagine after the electric JOY at seeing him raised from the dead, now he was telling them, ‘OK, I came back, but I have to leave again - this time for good.’ Oy Vay. (At least in their lifetimes, they’d not see him again).

So, He said to his disciples these marvelous things in John 16-

“But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; → It is expedient for you that I go away:

for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;

but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”

They were to grasp the idea that something even better than having Jesus around, was in the offing.. Something more personal, more present everywhere, at all times. They had no idea!

(Unfortunately, to this day too many Christians still don’t. They are not ‘filled’ with the holy ghost and clothed with power. So they still live waiting for Jesus to do the work he left us to do. Or they are waiting for a Rapture to get them out of here, NEVER HAVING EXPLOITED THE ENABLEMENTS he gave us, or done any real work for him. What an eternal tragedy!)

¹² I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now..’

WOWWOWW! DID YOU EVER READ THAT! He was telling them, “You are not ready for the secrets of the Kingdom now, (having no spirit) .. but SOON... ( i.e.. when you are baptized with holy spirit) - even THOSE MANY things I will share with you!”

Jesus was building their anticipation and excitement for what was going to be made available to them on» drumroll… →PENTECOST! -

Namely-

→ POWER FROM ON HIGH!

→The CLOTHING of the SPIRIT UPON THEM which WOULD POUR DOWN OUT OF HEAVEN - for the first time on Pentecost - and THEN FOREVER MORE! WOW!

I often wonder, how is PENTECOST not front and center in sermons all over the world! I have lived 67 years, and - save for the Ministry the Lord LED me to in the 70’s - I have NOT heard the Baptism of FIRE - AKA/ The POWER baptism - taught in any Churches….

The Lord continued:

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into ALL TRUTH [!]

for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:

If this were the ONLY enablement of the holy spirit to be given to his disciples, they should have been THRILLED! Imagine.. to be led in ALL TRUTH! ALL TRUTH! WOW!

What is all truth?

• Well if you’re a baker - the BEST and previously unknown INGREDIENTS!

• If you’re a historian - the SECRETS HIDDEN FROM THE AGES

• If you’re a decorative artist - the secrets of the unexploited breadth of your materials .. (..ahem.. :> } )

• If you’re a biochemist - 300 new uses for the humble peanut, and 150 new uses for the Sweet Potato! (How else do you think **George Washington Carver did it?)

• If you’re an inventor - The knowledge of Witty inventions!

• If you’re a Biblical researcher - The MEANING of the Scriptures that you study!

**Glenn Clarke wrote a tremendous biography of George Washington Carver, called - ‘The Man Who Talked To Flowers’; (a mere 50 pages long) In which we learn that Carver was a deeply spiritual Christian, who would get up at 4:30 every morning, and spend 2 hours in prayer with the Lord - where upon he would go to his laboratory, and the Lord would teach him the ‘Secrets of the Plants’! How did Carver invent so many things? By the Spirit of TRUTH! HELLO!

But that was not ALL Jesus was going to provide by the spirit to be given….

‘and he will shew you things to come…’

Did you get THAT! Who needs a freaking horoscope, or an occultic fortune teller/ or tea leaf reader, or a psycho psychic - The BIBLE IS the ‘Book of the Future’.

All you need to do is learn HOW to read it with the guidance of the Holy Ghost.

And that’s STILL not all. Let’s do a tally..

So far we have:

• COMFORT

• POWER

• ALL TRUTH

• THE FUTURE

and now..

He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and DISCLOSING it to you.

WOW! The spirit of Truth and Comfort that Christ sent on the Day of Pentecost, (and still sends today) will tell a saint the SECRETS OF THE KINGDOM - STRAIGHT FROM JESUS CHRIST IN HEAVEN..

YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION?!

I know a lot of things I don’t talk about. Because most people wouldn’t believe it if I told them! And I’m not looking to impress anyone. I’ll tell what he says I should, no more; and no less.

WALK BY THE SPIRIT AND NOT MISS A BEAT..

I used to wonder about Anna - the prophetess..

Did you ever read about her? She’s the one in this record in Luke 2:

³⁶ And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

³⁷ And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

³⁸ And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

I used to wonder about her - a woman widowed after only 7 years of marriage,.. alone EIGHTY FOUR years.. spending her days in the Temple serving God with ‘fastings and prayers’.. ‘NIGHT AND DAY’.. (And any of us think we serve Him??)

And what came of it?

She happened to be outside the Temple when JESUS was brought to be dedicated as a baby.. and at THE MOMENT that he was brought in, ANNA, led of the spirit (prophets had God’s spirit upon them, or they wouldn’t be prophets) went inside! When? ‘IN THAT INSTANT’ that his parents arrived! LED of the spirit!

And JUST LIKE SIMEON.. Anna got to see the Christ before she died!

Then too, for her selfless obedience and service to God, she also got her name forever written in the Eternal Word. ‘Anna the Prophetess’.

(and people, this was BEFORE PENTECOST - meaning with the outpouring of the spirit from that day onward, ANY OF US CAN BE ANNA! The distinction is faithfulness and obedience.

And the ‘good spiritual times rolling’ doesn’t stop there…

²⁵ These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs,

but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

How much more could we want?.. The Lord will also show us God.

Is that in our lifetime or in the ages to come? Well the next verse (26) says:

In THAT DAY you will ask in My name,

and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;

That’s NOW folks. In THIS day do we not ask the Father in Christ’s NAME? Saying ‘Father.. in the name of JESUS CHRIST please sell my house’. (Or whatever the case may be).

WE pray directly to the Father - as Christ demonstrated.

WE have access to the Throne of Grace, ‘with BOLDNESS’.

WE have the Ministry of Reconciling men back to God - as Jesus had.

WE are AMBASSADORS for the Lord Jesus Christ -

When? NOW. NOW NOW NOW!

2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted,

And in the day of salvation have I succoured thee:

behold, NOW is the accepted time;

behold, NOW is the day of salvation.)

SO who is GOD going to LEAD in judgment, and TALK to, and WORK WITH.. more often than not?

Answer:

First of all - those who are operating the ministry that Jesus Christ left us to operate.

What was his primary mission? To get men SAVED and BAPTIZED in the holy spirit;

(NOW You’re having seen his final instructions to his disciples (Luke 24:49) you KNOW he did not mean ‘water’ baptism.)

 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in (water?) NO NO NO → In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

and teaching them to OBEY everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Will God speak to those who bury their talents underground? I don’t know.. Maybe.. Would you? You’re GOD: The Lord of Hosts; The commander in Chief of the armed forces - you’re surrounded by arm chair generals who want to talk to you, but you have a private on the line - out in the field, at the front - doing the work of the Lord - and he has a question or a need.. Who will you put your attention to first?

(Could that be why some saints never seem to hear from Him? Or don’t know his voice? None of us are here for no reason. We all are given the ministry of reconciliation. We were never commissioned to ‘let Jesus do the work’ so we could sit around and wait to be ‘Raptured’.

¹⁷ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: → old things are passed away;

behold,

all things are become new. ←

¹⁸ And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ,

and hath GIVEN TO US the ministry of reconciliation ←

¹⁹ To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;

and hath COMMITTED to ‘US’ the word of reconciliation.

^when? NOW then -we are AMBASSADORS for Christ..’

This discussion is to set the mindset stage for expectation of hearing from God.

We see we need:

• To be born again (of incorruptible seed)

• To be Baptized in the Holy Spirit

• To STUDY the Word of Truth (which is one of only 2 ways we are built up spiritually - the other is speaking in tongues) We’ll talk more about this critical point.

• To SERVE and OBEY
